Winter Park Defeats Land-Use Amendment; Most Orange Co. Incumbents Keep Seats

March 10, 2010 -- The results are in from yesterday's elections in six Orange County cities. It was a good day for incumbents, but some charter amendment proposals were defeated.

In Winter Park, residents narrowly rejected an amendment that would have required a super-majority of the city commission to approve land use changes. The proposal lost by a margin of 53 to 47 percent.

In Orlando, City Commissioner Robert Stuart won 75 percent of the vote to keep his District Three seat, defeating political newcomer Larry Spade. Incumbents also won reelection in Apopka, Ocoee and Maitland.
