Blood Center Chief Resigns

03/11/10 - The CEO of Orlando-based Florida Blood Centers has stepped down. Anne Chinoda resigned yesterday afternoon after weeks of controversy over her salary which some considered excessive.

Chinoda received a $71,000 raise last year just before the center laid off 42 employees. The pay boost brought Chinoda’s compensation to about $605,000 dollars annually.
The Center’s Board of Directors accepted her resignation at a special meeting Wednesday night.
Florida Blood Centers supplies blood products to hospital and other medical facilities throughout the state. The FBC Board of Directors says the organization has doubled in size under Chinoda’s leadership.
Chinoda had been with Florida Blood Centers since 1987 and had been CEO for about 7 years.  Chief Operating Officer Mike Pratt will take over the post on an interim basis while the board conducts a search for a new CEO.
Chinoda will receive a $380,000 severance package.
