Florida Delegation Split Along Party Lines on Health Care Bill

The US House of Representatives voted in favor of a landmark overhaul for the nation's health care system late last night. In Central Florida, congressional representatives voted along straight party lines.

Democrats Alan Grayson Corinne Brown, and Suzanne Kosmas all voted for the bill. Congresswoman Kosmas, of New Smyrna Beach, was among the last of Florida’s Democrats to sign on. She decided late last week to put aside her reservations about the bill and go along with the president and most of her fellow Democrats.  Republican Ginny Brown-Waite, John Mica, Bill Posey, Adam Putnam and Cliff Stearns voted against the bill along with every other Republican representative in the House.
Here are statements, from the House floor, of Republican Bill Posey of Rockledge and Democrat Debbie Wasserman-Schultz of Miami.
