Osceola Jail Chief Resigns

The Osceola County jail chief has resigned following two escapes and several other security lapses the facility in Kissimmee.

Chief Gregory Futch tendered his resignation Monday morning.
The resignation comes after jail officials acknowledged that corrections officers released an inmate who falsely identified himself. The mistake wasn't discovered for more than a week. The inmate hasn't been caught.

One guard is being held on charges that he helped an inmate escape Feb. 19.
Michael Rigby, an alleged leader of the Bloods street gang, is still on the run.
A second inmate escaped March 16 but was caught hours later.
Osceola County Manager Michael Freilinger said Monday that 16 corrections officers have been fired and 30 employees will be disciplined.
