Hurricane Experts Predict Busy Season

Get ready for a busier than normal hurricane season. That's the warning from experts meeting at the National Hurricane Conference this week in Orlando. Forecasters say warmer waters in the southern Atlantic may fuel stronger and more frequent storms this year.

Well known atmospheric scientist William Gray of Colorado State University says warmer Atlantic temperatures between Africa and the Caribbean combined with a weakening El Nino in the Pacific will create ideal conditions for hurricanes this season.
Gray's official forecast will be released next Wednesday.
Weather service AccuWeather.com released its annual forecast in early March. They predict between 16 and 18 tropical storms, with 7 making landfall this hurricane season which starts June 1st.
Scientists, government officials and emergency managers are brain storming about the latest hurricane preparation strategies at the conference which continues through tomorrow.
