Hank Fishkind April 13 Seminole Gaming Compact

Gov. Charlie Crist is expected to sign an agreement with the Seminole Indian Tribe that guarantees hundreds of millions of dollars for the state in the next few years. The proposed compact will bring in an estimated 1-point-3 billion dollars over the next five years. But opponents say it will open the door to out-of-state gaming interests and pave the way for full scale, Las Vegas style casinos. 90.7's economic analyst Hank Fishkind has some expertise in this matter. In the interest of full disclosure, Dr. Fishkind has represented gaming interests in the past, including Gulfsteam Park and Mardi Gras in South Florida. He's not representing anyone now with a stake in this deal with the Seminoles, but he is a supporter of the compact. I ask him what this agreement will mean for the state.
