Poll Shows Scott and Greene Pulling Ahead

July 29, 2010 - A new voter poll indicates the multi-million dollar television campaigns by two wealthy candidates are working. The poll shows the self-financed candidates ahead of their rivals in the August 24th primaries.

In the Republican gubernatorial race, the Quinnipiac University Poll shows former health care executive Rick Scott favored by 43 percent to 32 percent who prefer Attorney General Bill McCollum.
In the Democratic U.S. Senate primary, South Florida billionaire Jeff Greene is ahead with 33 percent to Congressman Kendrick Meek’s 23 percent.
Greene and Scott have each invested millions of dollars of their own money into their campaigns. Each has been running statewide television commercials for weeks. Their opponents, McCollum and Meek, are dependent on more traditional campaign funding and have had only limited presence on the airwaves.
The Quinnipiac University poll surveyed 760 likely Republican voters and 780 likely Democratic voters last week.
