NASA Says Discovery's Tank Needs More Repairs

December 31, 2010 | WMFE - NASA is ordering more repairs for Space Shuttle Discovery's external fuel tank. Technicians at Kennedy Space Center found four more cracks in the tank during X-ray scans over the past few days.

Discovery has been grounded since early November, when a hydrogen fuel leak cancelled its planned launch. Technicians later discovered the first set of cracks in the fuel tank.

It’s not clear yet whether repairs to the new cracks will cause another delay for Discovery’s last planned mission before the end of the shuttle program. NASA is now hoping for a launch on February 3rd.
