Hank Fishkind March 8 - Budget Cuts Will Hit Health and Education Hardest

March 8, 2011 | WMFE - The annual legislative session in Tallahassee starts this morning and lawmakers have a daunting task ahead of them. The state's budget deficit is estimated to be more than $3.5 billion dollars and the legislature is bound by law to pass a balanced budget. In fact, it's the only job they're actually required by state law to complete during the 60 day annual session.

Governor Rick Scott and the leaders of both legislative chambers acknowledge that they’ll have to impose some painful to balance this budget.
