Intersection Segment | A fall from space

August 3, 2011| Joe Kittinger flew a balloon in 1960 to the edge of space -- 19 miles high. He said a prayer, started a camera rolling and jumped. At his fastest he fell at more than 600 miles an hour. Today he still holds the record for highest parachute jump. Kittinger was an Air Force test pilot, and his jump was part of an Air Force research project aimed at determining a high-altitude escape system for astronauts, should something go wrong. This week on "Intersection" 90.7's Mark Simpson talks with Kittinger about his big jump.
