Connie Mack IV Jumps Ahead of GOP Field in US Senate Race

November 11, 2011 | A new poll out this morning on the Florida US Senate Race between incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson and a field of republican candiates shows Congressman Connie Mack IV has jumped ahead of the field in a even though he hasn't entered the Senate contest.

The Quinnipiac University poll shows Mack favored by 32 percent of Republicans, followed by former Sen. George LeMieux with 9 percent, retired Army Col. Mike McCalister with 6 percent and former state Rep. Adam Hasner and former steak house CEO Craig Miller with 2 percent each.

Mack is the son of Sen. Connie Mack III and the great-grandson of the legendary Baseball Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack. He says he plans to get into the race soon.

Meanwhile another Quinnipiac poll released yesterday shows that half of voters in the Sunshine State disapprove of Governor Rick Scott’s job performance.

Governor's Scott’s approval ratings have remained steady the past few months, with 50 percent of voters saying he's not doing a good job and 36 percent saying he is.

Quinnipiac saysThat's an improvement from the spring, when Florida voters disapproved of Scott's performance by a nearly 2-to-1 margin — 57-29 percent
