Vander Weide has been the Magic’s CEO since the summer of 2010. He started with the team back in 1992, first as vice president of basketball operations, then a 16-year run as the team’s president. Alex Martins, the Magic's current president, has been named Vander Weide's replacement.

Vander Weide says he’ll remain with the Magic in a consulting role after his CEO contract ends on December 31st. He says he’s had a “good long run,” and he’d like to spend more time with his family and enjoy the opportunity to “be more of a fan than an executive."

Vander Weide has been in New York working on the new NBA collective bargaining agreement.
