Fishkind Commentaries: Closing Budget Gap Will Be a Priority for Lawmakers

Dec. 13, 2011 | WMFE - In just a few weeks, state lawmakers will convene in Tallahassee for their annual legislative session. The session is starting several months early so that both chambers have time to approve new district maps for the once-in-a-decade reapportionment process.

The legislators will also be spending plenty of time trying to balance the budget.
Economic analyst Hank Fishkind says Florida is facing at least a two billion dollar budget shortfall but, the state actually has seen a two percent jump in the amount of revenue coming in. 90.7’s Tom Parkinson asked him to explain why.
