Intersection | Redistricting 2012

January 10, 2012 | The legislative session gets underway this week, and a top issue will be redistricting. Lawmakers must redraw districts every 10 years. This year the process is complicated by two constitutional amendments voters approved in 2010. The amendments prohibit lawmakers from favoring parties and incumbents and require compact districts. The session starts two months early so that lawmakers can approve new plans and get them reviewed by the courts and Justice Department in time for the 2012 elections. We'll hear from an expert panel in a special collaboration between WMFE-Orlando and WUSF-Tampa. That's ahead on Redistricting 2012, and "Intersection" special.
