January 27, 2012 | WMFE - The four remaining candidates for the Republican presidential nomination met in Jacksonville last night for a spirited debate. The event, hosted by CNN and the University of North Florida, was the 19th debate in this season's primary battle but the final one before Florida's Republican primary next Tuesday.

University of North Florida President John Delaney says he thought it great debate with frank exchanges between the candidates.
He says he’s glad UNF was able to host the event and it was a great experience for the school and its students.
“That was a ‘knock-down, drag-out’ and universities are really about competing ideas and kicking those things around.” Delaney said. “We saw four different perspectives on that stage tonight, all from the right end of the political spectrum, but each candidate had their moments to when I just thought they were terrific.”
Florida Party Chairman Lenny Curry was also happy with the debate. He says all the candidates made good points at times and enjoyed seeing the crowd react favorably to every candidate when one made a comment they agreed with.
Curry says the enthusiasm in the hall shows Florida Republicans will be ready to rally around the eventual nominee this fall and, Curry says, the Republican candidate must win Florida in November in order to win the election.
