Orlando, FL (November 7, 2011) – WMFE-FM today announces the launch of a new local initiative aimed at allowing any member of the community to lend their voice to important issues concerning the Central Florida community. MY VOICE is a new initiative which allows WMFE listeners to write and voice a 60-second commentary on any issue and have that commentary broadcast on WMFE-FM. The MY VOICE commentaries will be broadcast on 90.7 FM all of this week at 10:38 AM and 2:59 PM. Next week, the commentaries will be broadcast every Tuesday at 10:38 AM.

The MY VOICE initiative débuts with voices from Annetta Wilson, Bill Sublette, Sara Brady, Kathy Ramsberger, Linda Landman-Gonzalez, Mark Brewer, Betty Martinez, Jackson Marcellie, Dr. Antonia Novello, Josh Garrick, Craig Ustler, Bill Segal, Iman Musri, and others. Inaugural MY VOICE commentaries focus on subjects like communication, the performing arts center, domestic violence, volunteerism, politics, and more. Anyone once can submit a MY VOICE commentary by logging on to wmfe.org/myvoice.

“Public radio can serve as a natural place to listen to conversations. Now listeners can participate in the conversation with their own voice.” said José A. Fajardo, president & CEO of WMFE-FM. “The MY VOICE initiative is WMFE’s commitment to provide a place for conversations to start, for citizens to be heard, and for fresh perspectives to be shared.”

Listeners can begin to submit submissions for consideration starting today.
