Rev. Al Sharpton brought thousands to Sanford Thursday night. It was a busy day with quick moving changes in the Trayvon Martin investigation.

Reverend Sharpton praised the peaceful activities of the nearly 8 thousand people attending.

"Just with what you’ve done on the grassroots level, we’ve seen today the governor put a new prosecutor in. We met with the justice department, the chief said he did a temporary leave, no we want permanent justice," he said.

Sanford Mayor Jeff Triplett also attended the meeting and was praised by Congresswoman Corrine Brown for releasing 9-1-1 tapes and meeting with U.S. Justice Department officials quickly.

Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee announced he is temporarily be stepping aside and a search for an interim chief would begin soon.

No arrests have been made in the nearly one month old case.
