May 29, 2012 | WMFE -The racy romance novel "Fifty Shades of Grey" is back on library shelves in Brevard County after being pulled earlier this month. Library officials returned the book after pressure from patrons and civil libertarian groups.

The Brevard County Library System released a statement saying the book would be available again immediately because of requests from library patrons.

The county's library services director said the library's 19 copies of book didn't meet her selection criteria and a county spokesman called the book "semi-pornographic."

Last week, the American Civil Liberties Union and the National Coalition Against Censorship sent a letter to county officials denouncing the move.

Brevard’s library services director says she will now review the library’s selection criteria.
