Updated: Zimmerman's Lawyers Delay Motion for New Bond Hearing

The former neighborhood watch member will now likely spend a few weeks behind bars at the John E Polk correctional facility in Seminole County after his bond was revoked.

In a statement on their website, Zimmerman's legal team said "a hearing will not be scheduled for a couple of weeks,"

"We will file a the motion well in advance of the hearing," they said.

Monday Zimmerman's legal team released a statement saying they were filing a motion for a new bond hearing.

Zimmerman, who shot and killed teenager Trayvon Martin in Sanford February, was ordered back to jail last week after it was revealed he did not tell the court before his first bond hearing about tens of thousands of dollars raised by support websites.

The prosecutor, Bernie de la Rionda said Zimmerman and his wife spoke in code about the money on telephone calls from the jail. At the April bond hearing Zimmerman's family told the court they had no significant resources, and bond was set at $150,000, well below the $1 million dollar bond requested by de la Rionda.

On Friday, judge Kenneth Lester said Zimmerman had sat "like a potted palm" and allowed his wife to give false testimony about their finances.

The defense team, which is led by Orlando based attorney Mark O'Mara, said Zimmerman realizes he has work to do to restore his credibility.

Zimmerman claims he acted in self defense when he shot the 17 year old Trayvon Martin during a scuffle in a gated community in Sanford in February.

He's facing a second degree murder charge.

His trial is unlikely to start until next year.
