Officials Hope Phase I End of Sunrail Line Spurs Growth in Debary

June 11, 2012 | WMFE - At the end of the first leg of Sunrail this Morning local officials will break ground on the Debary commuter rail station. Debary will anchor phase I of Sunrail's first 31 miles.

Sunrail still has 2 years before its expected to be up and running.

But officials in Debary today will break ground on their Sunrail station with the hope that the commuter train will help spur economic growth in their area.

Congressman John Mica, who chairs the US House Transportation committee is advocating for Sunrail as a way to give I-4 drivers a transit alternative

When complete, Sunrail will run a total of 61 miles from Deland to Poinciana.

Expected costs for the rail line should run about $1.3 Billion dollars

Volusia County projects more than 44 thousand jobs could be created by Sunrail.
