June 25, 2012 | WMFE - The 11am update from the National Hurricane Center shows Tropical Storm Debby likely passing through northern Central Florida as weakened system at the start of the weekend. Projections show Debby becoming a tropical depression by Friday. Currently Tropical Storm Debby remains in the Gulf of Mexico in a nearly stationary position. Heavy bands of rain and wind are expected to continue moving across the state for the next few days.

 

A tropical storm warning is in effect for the Florida Gulf Coast from Destin to Englewood.

Winds from the storm have spawned rotating winds which bring rapidly forming tornadoes.  Touchdowns were reported in Polk County over the weekend.

Power outages have been reported around Central Florida.
