Zimmerman Granted $1 Million Dollar Bond

July 5, 2012 | WMFE - A judge in Seminole County has granted bond for a second time to George Zimmerman. The former crime watch volunteer is awaiting trial on a second-degree murder charge in the shooting death of teenager Trayvon Martin.

Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester set Zimmerman’s bond at one million dollars. Lester revoked the previous $150 thousand dollar bond last month after learning that Zimmerman’s wife misled the court about their finances.
At a bond hearing in April, Shellie Zimmerman testified that the couple had limited resources and failed to disclose $135 thousand dollars collected through a website set up to fund his defense.  She has since been charged with perjury.
In his order, Judge Lester wrote that Zimmerman appeared to be “manipulating the system for his own benefit."
He ordered that Zimmerman wear an electronic monitoring device and banned him from opening any bank accounts.
