Intersection Segment | Kittinger guides a new jump from the edge of space

July 18, 2012 | WMFE - A second test-jump is scheduled this month in New Mexico as part of a mission by renowned sky-diver Felix Baumgartner to set new records for highest, fastest and longest parachute jump. His goal is to break records set in 1960 by long-time Orlando resident Joe Kittinger. This week on Intersection 90.7's Mark Simpson talked with Kittinger about his role in Baumgartner's mission and how the mission will improve pressure suits for future space travelers. Kittinger is a retired Air Force colonel and began the conversation by explaining why Baumgartner's more than 120-thousand-foot parachute jump is necessary.
