President Obama, Senator Marco Rubio Campaign in Orlando

President Barack Obama returned to Orlando Thursday, visiting Rollins College in Winter Park to talk about the economy.

Speaking to a capacity crowd the President contrasted his plans with his Republican rival Mitt Romney.  

He said if Romney wants to cut taxes for the top one per cent of income earners and keep his promise of not increasing the deficit, the middle class will have to pay more.

“They have tried to sell us this trickle down tax cut fairy dust before. And guess what- it didn’t work then, it will not work now.” 

Obama said if he is re elected he will not raise taxes on those who earn less than 250 thousand dollars a year.

A few hours before President Obama's campaign appearance, Florida US Senator Marco Rubio spoke at a Mitt Romney rally in Orlando.

Senator Rubio, who’s been under the spotlight as a potential running mate for Romney, spoke to a couple of hundred supporters outside an engineering and construction firm.

Rubio said the president hasn’t done enough to fix the economy.

He said Romney has the business experience to put the country back on track.

“It’s a fundamental choice between the president, who doesn’t believe in the free enterprise system, and a candidate in Mitt Romney who if he’s elected not only believes in the free enterprise system but understands how it works and will incentivize it.” 

Rubio told the gathering that winning votes in Central Florida is crucial to winning the presidential election.
