Fishkind Commentary: Despite Discouraging Reports, Housing is Recovering

August 7, 2012 | WMFE - The US Census Bureau recently released new figures on the health of the nation's housing market. The Census Bureau numbers show sales of new single family homes declining by nearly 8-and-a-half percent for the month of June.

 Economic analyst Hank Fishkind says the national numbers are a meaningful indicator of how Florida’s economy is recovering and he is forecasting an upward trend in the market and a steady recovery for the construction industry. 90.7’s Tom Parkinson asked him why these figures from the federal government seem to contradict that prediction.
