Intersection Segment | Sugar Industry Supports Florida Politicos

September 12, 2012 | WMFE - This election cycle South Florida's sugar industry is spending big on political contributions to help preserve a government program that boosts the domestic price of sugar. The sugar supports cost food consumers about 2 (B) billion dollars annually. Some politicians want to reform or end them. This week on Intersection 90.7's Mark Simpson talked with 90.7's Amy Green about her recent report on Big Sugar in collaboration with the Florida Center for Investigative Reporting. Green began the conversation by explaining how ending the sugar program might affect Florida's Everglades Agricultural Area.
