Space Shuttle Endeavour Prepped for Final Flight

Sept 14, 2012 | WMFE - Technicians at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida are spending the weekend preparing Space Shuttle Endeavour for its flight to the California Science Center in Los Angeles. It will be the last time a Shuttle flies from Kennedy

NASA and Shuttle workers spent this morning dodging rain showers as they prepared to bolt Endeavour on top of a specially modified 747 for its flight to California.

The Shuttle’s engines and other potentially dangerous components have been removed to ready Endeavour for its new museum home.

It's slated to leave KSC around 7am on Monday morning with weather permitting.

Endeavour is NASA’s youngest Shuttle.

It was built after the Challenger accident and started flying in 1992.

Last year it flew the second to last mission of the Shuttle program.

Throughout its career Endeavour logged 25 flights, 12 visits to the International Space Station, and one visit to the Russian space outpost MIR.
