New Spaceport Will Help Compete for Private Space Business September 27, 2012 | WMFE - Florida's space development agency, Space Florida, is asking NASA to transfer 150 acres of land north of the Kennedy Space Center for development of a new commercial space port. Space Florida says it needs the new facility to compete with other states in the lucrative new private space business. Tom Parkinson spoke with Space Florida president Frank DiBello about how the agency plans to move forward with the ambitious project and asked him why a new facility is necessary when private firms like Space-X are already launching missions using existing facilities at KSC. |
