November 2, 2012 | WMFE - Universal Studios Orlando has announced that the park will open a new, multimillion-dollar attraction next summer. Transformers: The Ride - 3D will be similar to the Transformers rides already operating at two of Universal's other parks in Southern California and in Singapore.

Universal officials say the new ride represents a new level in size and intensity and will employ cutting edge technology. The theme of the ride is based on the three "Transformers" films and will feature characters from the films based on the popular “Transformers” toys

Meanwhile, other Orlando theme parks say they are gearing up with new rides and attractions.

SeaWorld Orlando’s newest feature will be Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin. It’s scheduled to open next year replacing the former Penguin Encounter at Sea World.

Earlier this week, the Walt Disney Co. announced the purchase of George Lucas’ film production company along with rights to all the “Star Wars” characters.

Walt Disney World has not announced any new Star Wars themed rides or characters but Disney says it will release the latest  “Star Wars” movie, “Episode 7” in 2015.
