Grayson Grabs Victory from Long

November 7, 2012 | WMFE - Democrat Alan Grayson will return to the U-S House of Representatives for Central Florida's newly-drawn District 9. 90.7's Mark Simpson reports Grayson was first elected in 2008 and defeated in 2010, but as his supporter's campaign signs say, "He's back."

About a hundred of Grayson's supporters were at his watch party at the Salsa Latina club in Kissimmee last night.

Grayson beat Republican Todd Long by more than 20 percentage points for the district, which covers eastern parts of Polk and Orange County and all of Osceola.

He says now  he’ll work to build on his previous accomplishments when he heads back to Capitol Hill.

“I’m so proud of the things we did in the two years I was in office before. We cut foreclosures in Orange County in half in my first year, we doubled the amount of competitive grant money coming into the district from 100-million to 200-million.”

Grayson says that move helped cut unemployment in Orange County. He says this time around, his to-do list includes helping to create more jobs and supporting universal healthcare.
