Grayson Gets Foreign Affairs Subcommittee Assignments

January 24, 2013 | WMFE- Florida US congressman Alan Grayson has been appointed to two subcommittees on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Grayson, a Democrat, says serving on the subcommittees for the Western Hemisphere and the Middle East and North Africa, will help him serve constituents in his congressional district.

Grayson represents Florida’s 9th Congressional District, which includes Osceola County, and parts of Orange and Polk counties.

The district’s population includes residents with ties to Puerto Rico, Mexico and other Latin American countries.

Grayson says his subcommittee assignments give him the opportunity to help promote commercial ties between Central Florida and Latin America.

He says tourists from Western Hemisphere countries often face tighter visa restrictions than visitors from Europe. Grayson says easing some of the visa restrictions would improve tourism to Central Florida.
