Gov. Scott Announces More Colleges to Offer $10,000 Degrees

January 28, 2013 | WMFE- Governor Rick Scott says more community and state colleges are accepting his challenge to develop four-year degrees costing students less than $10,000. Governor Scott is expected to announce the additional colleges in an appearance at Miami-Dade College today.

Scott said late last year that the degrees should be in fields that will provide the graduates with the best opportunity for employment.

In recent years, many of Florida’s state and community colleges have started offering a limited number of four-year degrees but most of their students remain in two-year programs.

Most of Florida's bachelor's degrees still are produced by the state's 12 public universities although many of those students spent their first two years at a community or state college before transferring to one of the state’s universities.
