March 12, 2013 | WMFE- Author Karen Russell grew up in South Florida and the Everglades forms the backdrop for her first novel Swamplandia! - the story of of the Bigtree Family who live on an alligator-wrestling theme park. Her latest book, Vampires in the Lemon Grove is a collection of short stories which takes the reader to locations as far flung as Italy and Antartica. 90.7's Matthew Peddie talks with Karen about how growing up in the landscape of South Florida and taking road-trips through the Sunshine State influenced her writing.
