Intersection | Dr. Pamela McCauley Bush and Urban Chicken Farming

April 16, 2013 WMFE - Although women fill close to half of all jobs in the US economy they hold less than 25% of science, technology, engineering and mathematics jobs.

University of Central Florida engineering professor Pamela McCauley Bush wants to change that. Her newest book is entitled "Transforming Your STEM Career Through Leadership and Innovation". 90.7's Matthew Peddie talks to Dr. Bush about her campaign to encourage more women into careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics and about her Fulbright funded work which looks at the role of engineering and technology in disaster relief.

Also, chickens are taking over the backyards of Orlando residents. The city has tripled the number of licenses for their backyard chicken pilot program. Matthew Peddie talks with Gabby Lothrop, who was a part of the original pilot program, about her experience raising hens in her backyard.
