Hazardous Chemicals Force Evacuations in East Orange County


May 1st, 2013 | WMFE- Between 60 and 100 residents were forced to evacuate their homes in East Orange County Wednesday after potentially hazardous chemicals were discovered in a shed in the Alafaya Palms neighborhood near Lake Pickett Road and East Colonial Drive.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office sent the Emergency Ordinance Team to investigate the shed on La Crosse Avenue.

A sheriff's spokesperson said the The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is working with the Sheriff's department to render the materials safe.

By 6pm on Wednesday evening, the sheriff's office said all of the chemicals had been removed.
