Orange County Clerk of Courts Loses Battle with Cancer

May 9th, 2013 | WMFE- Orange County Clerk of Courts Lydia Gardiner has died. Gardiner, who was in her fourth term after being appointed in 2001, had been battling cancer.

Gardiner was a member of the Domestic Violence Commission, which reconvened recently after she helped establish the original panel in 2004.

In a statement State Attorney Jeff Ashton said he had been looking forward to working with Gardiner to tackle the challenges facing the 9^th judicial circuit. He said he would miss her "unflappable good humor. "

Chief Judge Belvin Perry has appointed Colleen Marie Reilly as clerk ad interim for Orange County.

Reilly will serve until Governor Rick Scott appoints a new Clerk of Courts.
