Orange County Clerk of Courts Loses Battle with Cancer

May 9th, 2013 | WMFE- Orange County Clerk of Courts Lydia Gardiner has died. Gardiner, who was in her fourth term after being appointed in 2001, had been battling cancer.

Gardiner was a member of the Domestic Violence Commission, which reconvened recently after she helped establish the original panel in 2004.

In a statement State Attorney Jeff Ashton said he had been looking forward to working with Gardiner to tackle the challenges facing the 9th judicial circuit. He said he would miss her "unflappable good humor. "

Chief Judge Belvin Perry has appointed Colleen Marie Reilly as clerk ad interim for Orange County.

Reilly will serve until Governor Rick Scott appoints a new Clerk of Courts.
