State Voice Experts Differ on Screams for Help on Martin/Zimmerman 911 Tapes

May 14th, 2013 | WMFE - State audio experts in the case against George Zimmerman have differing opinions on whether screams for help caught on 911 calls came from the neighborhood watch volunteer himself, or the 17-year-old he fatally shot last year.

In reports released Tuesday, one audio expert says that the screams came from unarmed teen Trayvon Martin, while another expert says the shouts are unclear, but seem to be a mix of Martin and Zimmerman.

Attorneys prosecuting Zimmerman for second-degree murder hired the audio experts to compare samples of Martin and Zimmerman's voices with the screams from the 911 calls.

Martin's family claims the voice is that of the South Florida teen. Zimmerman's father has said in court he believes the cries are from his son.

Zimmerman is pleading not guilty, claiming self-defense. His trial starts next month in Seminole County court.
