A search of Seevakumaran's computer revealed an estimate of how many students lived in his dorm and a hand-written note reading, "The key is hate."

UCF Police Chief Richard Beary said the computer also contained a short story about someone named Daniel who pulled an alarm, waited five or 10 minutes and began firing on people.

"He knew in his mind that he had 10 to 15 minutes, that he would be able to do harm to our students but when he didn't have those 10 to 15 minutes the plan went awry."

Beary also said Seevakumaran's rifle jammed before he could shoot his fellow students.

Also in the final incident report issued by the university: Seevakumaran was corresponding with Trey Sesler, a Texas inmate serving a life sentence for killing his entire family.
