French Aeronautics Company Brings Jobs to Melbourne

June 18, 2013 | WMFE - A major French aeronautics supplier plans to open its first-ever US subsidiary in Melbourne, bringing 40 new manufacturing and engineering jobs to the Space Coast. Governor Rick Scott and Brevard County officials joined Vision Systems executives at the Paris Air Show to reveal the details.

Vision Systems, a Lyon, France-based supplier for the aeronautics, marine and automotive industries, chose Melbourne over sites in Georgia, North Carolina and Texas. Company executives said Florida offered a business-friendly base closer to their US customers like HondaJet and GulfStream.

Brevard County Economic Development officials worked with Vision Systems for nearly a year to solidify the deal.

Vision Systems is expected to invest nearly $1.2 million dollars in Melbourne as it powers up 12,000 square feet of office space, production areas and a special facility for creating smart solar-driven systems. The company will create ten new jobs by the end of this year and 40 within three years, with an average annual salary of about $40,000 dollars.

Scott said the project demonstrates the importance of Florida’s international missions in bringing new businesses to the state. The governor has also embarked on trade missions to Chile and Canada, among other countries.
