The innovative ideas grants will fund projects ranging from smart phone apps to free bicycle check-outs from the library.

The grants are being awarded by Healthy Central Florida, a collaboration between Florida Hospital and the Winter Park Health Foundation that was created to help the cities of Eatonville, Winter Park and Maitland develop into healthy communities. The organization offered up ten $2500 dollar grants for innovative ideas aimed at improving community health. Executive Director Jill Hamilton Buss said there’s a lot of momentum behind these ideas.

“Working across the table there were already synergies, they could see that they could collaborate, whether it’s on these existing grants or in the future, they could form relationships around health,” she said. The groups will receive their grant checks a couple of weeks from now. The ten ideas being funded were chosen because they showed good potential for having a lasting impact.
