August 13th, 2013 | WMFE - The 2010 death of SeaWorld killer whale trainer Dawn Brancheau in Orlando sparked debate on the safety of SeaWorld trainers. While the company that owns the theme park is still fighting OSHA regulations and sanctions in the wake of the tragedy, others are questioning whether killer whales should be kept in captivity at all. The documentary Blackfish explores the impact of the theme park environment on the mental health of these marine mammals. 90.7's Matthew Peddie speaks with Dr. John Jett, a former SeaWorld trainer and contributor to this film, about his research into killer whale captivity.
