George Zimmerman Posts Bond, Released From Jail

November 19, 2013 | WMFE - George Zimmerman has been released from jail. The former Neighborhood Watch volunteer left the Seminole County jail Tuesday a few hours after a judge granted him $9,000 bond.

Zimmerman's appearance took place right next door to the courthouse where he was acquitted in July of second-degree murder in teenager Trayvon Martin's death.

He's considered indigent and is represented by assistant public defender Daniel Megaro.

"He can make arrangements with a bondsman. And typically in the state of Florida when somebody makes arrangements with a bondsman for a specific amount, in most situations they require a 10 percent down payment."

Zimmerman was arrested Monday after his girlfriend accused him of pointing a shotgun at her. The assistant state attorney said a week and a half ago Zimmerman tried to choke his girlfriend and talked of suicide.

His attorneys said they were surprised by the allegations.

Zimmerman was ordered to stay away from his girlfriend, give up all weapons and ammunition in his possession and wear a monitoring device. He's also not allowed to leave the state until his next court appearance in January.
