Suspect in Missing Family Case Pleads Not Guilty

November 21st, 2013 | WMFE- The man accused of killing his missing wife entered a plea of not guilty today in a Volusia County courtroom. Authorities say Luis Toledo admitted to killing Yessenia Suarez during an argument, but the search continues for her body...and the bodies of her two young children.

Toledo remained silent in court this morning as his attorney Matt Phillips spoke to the judge, entering a plea of not guilty on behalf of his client.

Toledo is charged with second-degree murder in the death of his wife, but authorities say he has blamed someone else for the deaths of her children, 8-year-old Michael and 9-year-old Thalia.

The three went missing October 22nd, after witnesses say Toledo showed up at Suarez’s Lake Mary workplace and slapped her in the face during a fight.

Toledo’s not guilty plea comes a day after Suarez’s family announced they’d file a wrongful death suit against him.

During today’s arraignment, Toledo stared intently at the family members of his missing wife who were sitting in the gallery.

The judge set a trial date of February 10th.
