VA's Lake Nona Campus Receives Its First CLC Residents  Lake Nona's new VA hospital has its first residents. The VA began moving patients December 2nd, and it's hoped the move will be completed by December 13th. [World War II Army Veteran Angel Camacho and family show off his new private room at the Orlando VAMC's CLC at Lake Nona.] The patients are being moved from the VA’s nursing home facility at Lake Baldwin. Their new home is the Community Living Center at the long awaited VA Hospital in Lake Nona. Orlando VA Public Affairs Officer Heather Frebe says the new facility gives patients private rooms for the first time, with the rooms clustered around what she calls neighborhoods. “Each one has its own kitchen facility and it has sitting areas and we’ve had great volunteers come in to decorate it for the holidays and it’s just beautifully decorated, and there are courtyards and areas for people to sit in,” she says. 15 patients a day are being moved to the Lake Nona facility for a total of about a hundred CLC residents. The new location has 120 private patient rooms. |
