Orlando Health is announcing both a beginning and an end for its cancer program.

The 23-year old partnership between Orlando Health and the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center will end on January 31st.  At that time Orlando Health begins a new partnership with the University of Florida’s UF Health Cancer Center.  MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando President Mark Roh says the change is happening because MD Anderson wants to step up its national presence while Orlando Health is interested in a more Florida-based approach to care.

“So we want to focus all of our energy, our resources on Floridians here and moving this forward and providing better care for them,” he says.

Roh says patients don’t have to worry about their doctors leaving, none of that will be changing. But the new partnership is expected to expand care and treatment options.
