January 1st, 2014 | WMFE - The Orlando City Soccer club received funding for a soccer-only stadium in downtown Orlando at the end of 2013. The team was also awarded a Major League Soccer Franchise around the same time. In March, 90.7's Matthew Peddie spoke with Orlando City Soccer President and Owner Phil Rawlins, who was busy convincing area officials -- and residents of Central Florida -- that soccer would have a positive impact on the area. One of those officials was Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, who also joined the conversation.
