Special Election Dates Set for House District 44

January 10th, 2014 | WMFE- Governor Rick Scott has set dates for elections to replace Florida House District 44 representative Stephen Precourt.

Precourt, a republican from Orlando, has resigned to take the job of executive director of the Orlando – Orange County expressway authority.

The Governor issued an executive order today calling for a special primary election on March 11^th, and a special election April 8^th.

Precourt will start in his new job next week.

His selection as the new leader of the expressway authority was not unanimous. 

In a meeting Tuesday, two of the five board members voted against Precourt's nomination, including Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs, who said there was a better qualified candidate.
