The cameras are part of a year-long study with researchers from the University of South Florida.

Police Chief Paul Rooney says the cameras may have a positive influence on both officers and would-be criminals.

“It’ll definitely improve behavior, both on the individuals we deal with, the civilians, and also on the officer’s part,” says Chief Paul Rooney.

The cameras can be worn mounted on sunglasses, collars or caps.

Fifty officers will wear the cameras for the study.
