Scott's Budget Proposal Includes Money for Roads- and Cycling January 30th, 2014 | WMFE, Orlando- Governor Rick Scott's budget unveiled Wednesday includes more than $500 million for roads in Central Florida. There’s also some money for cycling projects. Last year Governor Scott vetoed a $50 million connector project that would have made a continuous cycling trail all the way from St Petersburg to Titusville. But in this budget Scott’s recommending $11.1 million for several segments of the cycling trail. That includes the East Central Florida Rail Trail in Volusia County and the Rinehart Road Path in Seminole County. A Department of Transportation spokesperson says local planning agencies have prioritized completing the trail system, using federal and state funds to close the gaps. The budget also includes $255 million for lane additions to I-95 in Volusia County, which officials say will improve safety and $81 million to add lanes to the Beachline West from I -4 to the Turnpike. |
