Judge Allows Use of Eminent Domain for Soccer Stadium Land

January 31, 2014 | Orlando, WMFE - A judge has ruled the city of Orlando can use eminent domain to acquire two pieces of land for a proposed major league soccer stadium in Parramore.

In the ruling released today the city was awarded two properties at 639 West Church Street and 607 West Church Street. The court has yet to rule on what the owner Northbrook properties Incorporated will be paid for the land.

They’ve been ordered to vacate the premises by March 1st.

City officials are also preparing to use eminent domain to acquire another piece of land owned by the Faith Deliverance Temple. However the city says it’s willing to negotiate with the church.

It’s hoped the arena will boost Orlando’s economy and bring about a resurgence for Parramore.
